Background:

Kingsley was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1968. His father, Luke, was a Black Panther Partyist who fell for the charming French Elisa. When Kingsley was nine, Luke left Elisa for a young waitress named Lataya. Elisa and Kingsley moved to Bath in 1978 to live with Elisa's parents, who were living in exile after Elisa's father, Alain, had a falling-out with the French MoM. Elisa had affairs with a large number of men until she died in 1984. Alain died in 1985, and Kingsley's grandmother, Aceline, died in 1989.
Kingsley passed his Potions, History, Divination and Herbology NEWTs with the highest marks available. His Transfiguration, Charms, and Defence Against the Dark Arts were merely acceptable. He was accepted into the Auror training program directly after graduation, and passed with high marks.
